When Google announced the 14-day closed testing rule, the goal was not to make publishing annoying; it was to simulate a real-world beta period. In software development, bugs are often discovered over time, not within the first 10 minutes of usage.

This is why daily streaks are heavily weighted in Google’s automated review algorithm.

What is a Daily Streak?

A daily streak occurs when your Play Console's Daily Active Users (DAU) metric registers at least a few active sessions every single day of the 14-day window.

• Good Streak: Day 1 (12 DAU), Day 2 (8 DAU), Day 3 (9 DAU)... all the way to Day 14.
• Broken Streak: Day 1 (12 DAU), Day 2 (0 DAU), Day 3 (0 DAU).

Even if testers return on Day 4, a two-day gap of zero engagement signals to reviewers that your testers are not committed to a rigorous QA process.

How Google Uses Streak Data

When you hit the "Apply for Production" button, your app’s analytics profile is scanned. Apps with broken streaks or massive engagement gaps are automatically flagged for higher scrutiny or instant rejection.

Apps with solid daily streaks demonstrate:

1. App Stability: Testers are returning to the app, which implies the app isn't crashing instantly on boot.
2. Tester Commitment: You have recruited serious individuals willing to help you refine the software.

Maintaining the Streak

If you are managing the test yourself, you must be proactive. Don't wait for your analytics to hit zero. Send polite reminders to your group every 48 hours to open the app, navigate a few screens, and generate the vital session data required to keep the streak alive.
