Google Play Console Production Access Application Guide

TL;DR

Applying for production access requires filling out a questionnaire detailing your testing process, the feedback you received, and the changes you implemented. Avoid generic answers. Provide specific UI/UX notes and cite minor updates to prove authentic QA occurred.

Unlocking the "Apply for Production" Button

Congratulations, your 14 days are up! Once your 12 testers have maintained continuous engagement, the "Apply for Production" button will activate on your Play Console dashboard.

Clicking this button does not instantly publish your app; it opens a mandatory questionnaire that a human reviewer will read to validate your testing phase.

How to Answer the Questionnaire

The reviewer is looking for evidence of a genuine QA process. Generic answers like "Testers liked the app, no bugs found" will almost certainly trigger an Insufficient Testing rejection.

Here is how to approach the key questions:

"How did you gather feedback from testers?"
Be specific. Mention the channels you used. "We collected feedback via email, a dedicated Discord channel, and through the Google Play private feedback forms."
"What feedback did you receive?"
Provide 2 to 3 specific examples of UI/UX friction. "Testers noted that the onboarding tutorial was slightly too fast, and one user reported a layout issue on smaller 5-inch screens."
"What changes did you make to the app based on this feedback?"
This is the most critical question. "We released v1.0.2 midway through the test which added a 'Skip' button to the tutorial and applied a ScrollView wrap to fix the layout issue on smaller devices."

The Waiting Period

After submitting the form, your application enters the final manual review. This process usually takes between 2 to 7 days. If your answers are detailed and your backend analytics show organic engagement, your app will be approved for the production track.
